| Bio: | ![]() fleur isabelle delacour DATE OF BIRTH: 14 February 1977 PLACE OF BIRTH/CURRENT RESIDENCE: Marseille, France / Brockenhurst, New Forest, Hampshire, England (where she resides with her husband, Bill Weasley) OWL AND/OR PETS: A screech owl named Etienne and a white blue-eyed cat named Cosette HOUSE: Beauxbatons Academy YEAR: Class of 1995 ALIGNMENT: Member of the Order of the Phoenix Fleur Isabelle Delacour was born on an exceptionally mild February afternoon - Valentine's Day, to be exact - to Pierre Delacour, a former cursebreaker and Ancient Runes professor, and Danielle Quadrlle, a half-Veela, in Marsailles, France. From the moment she was born, Fleur did not want for anything. Everything she could possibly want was at her disposal, and she took advantage of that from an early age. Spoiled was a more gentle way of putting it. In fact, her first signs of being magical came from when she threw a temper tantrum at the age of three and caused something halfway across the room to break, all including accompanying blue and silver sparks. Fleur was soon discovered to be very intelligent and full of curiousity; she was always exploring things and getting herself into trouble for being somewhere she should not have been. As she became older, she became wiser, finding ways to get herself out of trouble. Some people would call it lying. Fleur knew, though, that it was just a different way of explaining things. At her young age, she did not think of the repercussions of what she said; she did not care that maybe something she had said would affect someone else. As long as she was okay, that was all that mattered. Fleur's maternal grandmother, Sabine Quadrille, was displeased with this behaviour. She expected her daughter's daughter to act more like a lady, as she had been sorely disappointed with her own daughters. As a Veela who did not have much power over her husband anymore, Sabine had quickly turned sour on the idea of love and marriage and did not think that anyone was good enough for her daughters. But Danielle, Fleur's mother, and her twin sister Chantal had stubborn streaks they had inherited from their father, and therefore did not let their mother's words sink in. That was why Sabine had all her hopes pinned on Fleur, that Fleur would grow up to be the perfect lady her mother was not. As the years went on, her expectations rose higher, especially with Pierre's and Danielle's problems with having another child. They had tried several attempts, but all of them had ended in a miscarriage, and it seemed that Fleur would be their only child. However, Sabine was sadly mistaken. Fleur had inherited that stubborn streak, and with a temper to match, she was a daunting force when told what was expected of her. She was often rebellious, especially against her grandmother's vocal wishes. At the same time, Fleur was growing into someone who was accustomed to getting her own way, and expected only the best treatment from people. All that was put aside when Fleur was eight years old, and her much-anticipated sister Gabrielle Rose was born. From the moment she met her little sister, Fleur adored her. She would often take the baby exploring with her when she could, and made sure that nothing or nobody hurt her, and did whatever she could to give baby Gabrielle the best, just like people had done with her. When Gabrielle was three years old, however, Fleur was to attend Beauxbatons Academy (where her father was teaching Ancient Runes), and she pitched a fit; she did not want to be away from her sister. Pierre had to gently explain to her that this time, she could not get her way. After many a trying session with Fleur, and with the promise that they could come see Gabrielle and Danielle whenever they wanted to (Beauxbatons was only a short trip away from the Delacour estate), Fleur reluctantly left her sister. Beauxbatons opened up a whole new world of possibilities for the eleven year old Fleur. Magically, her skill was uncannily spot-on for a child of her age, and Fleur reveled in demonstrating that fact to whomever would watch. She not only enjoyed competition, she instigated it. She had to be on top in everything. When the time came, that included having whichever boy was the most popular at the moment. With her Veela heritage to back up her charm, her intellect, and her magical skill, Fleur knew she couldn't lose, no matter what the prize was. This caused many of her schoolmates to resent her for being so 'perfect.' It did not help that she was not only selected to be part of the elite delgation that was sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland for the Tri-Wizard Tournament, but was the representative for that delegation that was to compete in the tournament.Fleur was frustrated that she was not winning the Tournament (in fact, she was in last place), not only because she hated losing, but because she was failing to impress the people around her and losing credibility from her schoolmates. She vented this by complaining about everything around her - that it was the environment, the food, the people that were causing her to not be on her game. Slowly, though, she came to realize that it was rigged, but not without a price. The first blow to her bubble was being attacked by grindylows in the Second Task and not being able to save her sister. Fleur was so distraught that she did not realize that Gabrielle would have been saved anyway if Harry Potter had not saved her first, and so she became eternally indebted to the Hogwarts co-champion that she had previously outwardly outcried. It was also thanks to Harry Potter that Fleur first saw her future husband, Bill Weasley. When the older man visited the school to wish Harry luck, Fleur could not help but notice him, partly because he stood out, and partly because he was so good-looking. If it had not been for the fact that Fleur was more occupied with trying to win the Tournament, she would have most definitely made a move on him. But at the time, Bill was placed on the back burner and she did not devote much thought to him. She had more important things to think about, you see. What really opened her eyes to see that she wasn't just in her own world anymore was when Viktor Krum, whom she had considered at least an ally in the fact that their playing fields were level, Stunned her during the Third Task. She later learned that Krum was under the Imperius curse, which was what really scared her. When Cedric Diggory came out dead, Fleur was truly afraid for the first time in her life. After returning home to Beauxbatons and finishing her schooling, Fleur struggled to hold down a job in France. It was soon apparent that this would not work out, so she headed across the pond to London. Her year in Scotland had shown her a charming country, full of good-looking men. It was then that Fleur remembered the red-headed rebel-looking man from the school, and hoping to find him, she took a job with the Wizarding bank, Gringotts. A few weeks later, Fleur ran into him in the lift. She noticed that he worked one flight below her own, and noticed a lot more about him. His look appealed to her because it reminded her of himself; how she did not care what anyone thought of her and would not let anyone dictate how she looked. She began her usual plan of attack, lure, and capture, but with Bill, it did not work. Fleur thought about the reasons why this was happening. The age difference, maybe? The language barrier (though her English was improving)? Whatever it was, Fleur had decided that she needed to plan maybe a different way to get his attention. And the more he was oblivious to her desire, the harder it was to not think about it. Finally, after the help of many a co-worker, Bill took notice of her and asked her out on a date. Their first date was memorable; their conversational skills were limited, but they managed to get out a lot of information. Fleur learned that he had previously worked as a cursebreaker in Egypt. That put Bill up a million points in her book; her father had done the same thing before he taught at Beauxbatons (and that was how he met Fleur's mother; the only reason why Pierre Delacour did not continue the job was because of its dangerous nature and Danielle did not want him to be in danger when he had a family). Slowly, but surely, their relationship progressed until they were seeing each other seriously. That was when Bill decided that he had to talk to her about something 'serious.' He explained to her that Lord Voldemort had returned, but that not many people believed it. He explained to her the circumstances of his last relationship and how he could not trust someone who did not believe his viewpoint. But Fleur knew in her heart, no matter what the English Wizarding press was saying, that Harry Potter was right, and that Voldemort had returned. She knew because she had seen that glassy look in Viktor Krum's eyes when he had Stunned her. She knew because she was fully aware that if things had gone differently, that she could have died as well. And she knew because she recognized the Ministry cover-up and was thoroughly disgusted by it. That 'serious' talk sealed the deal, and only a few weeks later, after Voldemort was exposed, Bill and Fleur paid a visit to her parents in France; Fleur did not know it at the time, but in confidence, Bill asked for Fleur's hand in marriage. Pierre was pleased with Fleur's choice of a future husband; they obviously shared the passion for cursebreaking, and Bill seemed to be a good, decent man. Danielle just wanted to make sure Fleur was happy, and when they could see she was, she did not have a problem with it. Gabrielle, of course, was slightly jealous that someone else was taking the affection of her older sister away from her, but when she found out that he was related to Ron Weasley, and that he knew Harry Potter, she quickly forgave him and adored him in a way only a ten year old could. Sabine, however, was very angry. In her eyes, Bill was not good enough for her granddaughter because she was too young and he did not have enough money. Who would take care of her when she needed it? Sabine thought that Bill was just after Fleur for her looks and her money. Just like her mother before her, though, Fleur ignored her grandmother's protests because she knew better; in fact, the return owl she sent her grandmother basically said to 'sod off,' in no uncertain terms. Fleur has not heard from her grandmother since. After the engagement, Fleur spent some time with Bill's family in an effort to try and get to know them better. The ones that were around enjoyed her, for the most part - especially Ron, who had fancied her even before she had met Bill - but Molly Weasley, Bill's mum, and Ginny, his youngest sibling and only sister, did not enjoy Fleur's company. Fleur had to wonder if there was a bias before she had even arrived against her, but all the animosity did not help their impression of her, as when she gets frustrated, Fleur tends to be more condescending than usual. However, a tragic accident brought them all together. In the middle of June, there was an unexpected attack on Hogwarts, and Bill (a member of the Order of the Phoenix at this point) was attacked by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback, who had a passion for attacking people even when not transformed. Bill was mauled irreparably, and they feared for his life. When she was informed, Fleur seriously had to consider what she wanted to do. She had only recently turned twenty years old, and she could have any person she wanted to have. She could have just walked away because her fiancé was not good-looking anymore. But when she realized people were expecting that of her, it swayed her decision. She would not let other people dictate to her how she was to live her life. She had a point to prove: to her grandmother, to her future-in-laws, to herself. She loved him, and so she would stand by him no matter what. That was what marriage was all about, was it not? And when she proclaimed her famous line: "I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk," it began at least a truce between Bill's mum and his fiancée. This scene is what Bill woke up to, and to this day, it fuels his Patronus Charm.Bill and Fleur decided, in the weeks leading up to their wedding, to keep their marriage quiet. Bill had already been attacked and they knew exactly what kind of danger they were getting into. They thought it best that the marriage was kept quiet, for the time being. At first, Fleur did not like this idea, that they were letting fear run their lives, but when she saw how deeply Bill was affected by his attack, she relented and reasoned that it was the most logical thing to do, anyway. Plus, it added an aspect of adventure that Fleur had to admit was quite appealing. Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour were married on August 4, 1997, with the presence of Bill's family (excluding Percy), Fleur's family, and a few close friends (Harry and Hermione, and some Order members). They had originally planned their wedding date in July, but due to certain factors, which included Bill's newly acquired werewolf characteristics (including what would become Bill's equivalent of transformations), the wedding had to be postponed. They soon purchased a small flat in New Forest, halfway between the Burrow and London, for convenience's sake. However, only a few months into their marriage, Remus Lupin, a professor at Hogwarts and fellow Order member, asked Fleur to help him with a student that needed a tutor. Bored with the life she was living at home - she felt she was constantly in hiding - Fleur jumped immediately at the chance. It took Bill a little convincing as well, but they moved into Hogwarts in early November. fleur Fleur is good and she knows it. In her younger years, she was snobby, egocentric, picky, and blunt; boys loved her, girls hated her. She's very smart and resourceful, and can take any situation, no matter if it is in her favor or not, and make it so that she comes out on top. This contributed to her not having very many friends when she was growing up, but it did not matter, for she had her sister, Gabrielle, and her cousin Arielle, who is approximately the same age, give or take a few months. In her eyes, Fleur didn't need anyone else; not many people were worthy enough to be graced with her presence, anyway. She is very critical of people, in general; she does her best and expects everyone else to do the same. If she has a problem with anything, she'll let you know. She can be condescending, but she's working on that part of her behavior. Sometimes, though, she'll let something slip, especially if she's angry or upset. She loves fashion and dressing up for any occasion, and is rather good at it (as is to be expected). She also adores music: she was trained as a classical pianist for many years, and has dabbled in a few other instruments. She has a refined taste and it shows - Fleur loves only the best wine, the best food, and the the best treatment. And so far, Bill has treated her well, despite the fact that she comes from money and he doesn't; so much so that she's willing to compromise, especially in these dark times. She doesn't see as much of her husband as she'd like, because he helps out with the Order as well as working his 'regular' job, but she knows that he's a good man, and he's fighting a good fight. As a side note, her English isn't quite perfected yet, but she's making excellent progress. :) disclaimer: fleur delacour is the creation of j.k. rowling and is being borrowed for the | |||||||||
